carbonpositive network
carbonpositive works closely with a network of companies and not-for-profit organisations. They include:
Sun Biofuels Plc is establishing biodiesel production operations in a number of countries in the developing world. carbonpositive is assisting Sun Biofuels in its plans to register its projects under the Clean Development Mechanism. Sun Biofuels already has a significant presence in Ethiopia through its controlling interest in the National Bio-Diesel Corporation of Ethiopia (NBC). NBC owns large tracts of land suitable for planting of biodiesel crops, and has several biodiesel supply agreements in place or under negotiation with large private Ethiopian companies and state-owned companies.
The Learning Paper is a UK charity that works to improve education opportunities for children in developing countries. The charity is planning a large-scale project to distribute clean-burning stoves in Eastern and Southern Africa, and is working with carbonpositive to develop the project. The introduction of clean-burning stoves will improve the health of women and children and reduce the time they spend collecting fuel, both of which will allow more opportunities for education.
ONF International is a French forestry company with wide experience of forestry projects in developing countries. It is working with carbonpositive to identify and execute reforestation projects and the companies are already collaborating on projects in South America.
Independent Power Corporation Plc (IPC) is working with carbonpositive to select and develop appropriate energy projects for carbonpositive and its customers. Example projects under consideration include rural electrification in Bolivia and efficiency upgrades to power plants in South Africa. IPC is an international power development company with interests in electricity generation in Europe, Central Asia and Latin America. The company has experience in owning and operating gas-fired, coal-fired and hydroelectric power generation facilities.
The Shell Foundation sees Carbon Positive's objectives as being aligned with Shell Foundation's goals, and is keen to support Carbon Positive in its growth.
C-Fix BV is working with carbonpositive to identify potential infrastructure projects using its environmentally-friendly building products. C-Fix is a building material that was originally developed by Shell in response to the Kyoto Protocol. The building material can be used to replace cement in many applications. It is produced from carbon-rich crude-oil fractions that would otherwise be burnt as heavy fuel oil.
