Our management team:

Jon Anwyl, CEO, has six years experience in business consultancy, and three years experience in developing ventures in the sustainable development field. While working with PA Consulting Group, START (a strategic consultancy owned by Shell), and as an independent consultant, he has developed business plans, built financial models, designed and implemented business processes, and managed change programmes in a number of developing countries. Jon was also COO of drParsley, an incubator for businesses that generate profits by addressing social and environmental issues. Jon has a first class honours degree in Engineering Science from Oxford University, and speaks French and English.


E.C (Demi) Demetriou, Chairman, has spent most of his business life in Media and Communications as an Investment Banker. Prior to that he was a senior executive at both EMI and Warner Communications (now Time Warner), and he has also been the majority shareholder and/or CEO/Chairman of a number of music, film and publishing businesses, all of which have been sold on to major international corporations. He was the founder and Chairman of Exonet Communications SA, the first Voice Over IP (VoIP) network in Greece, and is a director of BitRage Inc, a Florida-based Digital Signal Processor (DSP) company. He was educated in London, Vienna and Paris in musicology, conducting and composition and for three years held the position of director of music at Sussex University. Demi speaks Greek, English and French, and he also has a working knowledge of German, Italian and Spanish.


Hans Verweij, Senior Forester,
has spent the last fifteen years with FACE Foundation (Forests Absorbing Carbon Dioxide) in the Netherlands. During his six years as Deputy Director and nine years as Director, FACE Foundation planted or restored over 50,000 ha of forest in Uganda, Malaysia, Ecuador, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. Hans has spent his whole career in forestry, with fourteen years as a researcher at the Dutch Forestry Research Institute “De Dorschkamp” and four years as Chief Technical Advisor to a forest regeneration project in Burkina Faso. He was also the founder and first chairman of the Dutch Association of Tropical Forests. Hans speaks Dutch, French and English, and has a working knowledge of German and Spanish.


Ally Charlton, Project Manager, has five years experience in strategy consulting, general management and business development gained with LEK Consulting, an Internet start-up and as co-founder of a boutique strategy consulting firm. During this time she carried out company and business unit valuations, business plan development and evaluation, and market assessments and due diligence. An MBA followed where she focused on corporate environmental management and strategy, business ethics, social/environmental enterprise and NGO management. Ally then moved to Nairobi and prior to joining carbonpositive she worked on financing and business planning for wildlife conservation and rural development projects across East Africa. Ally has a Bachelors degree in Modern Languages from Cambridge University and an MBA from INSEAD. She speaks English, French, Spanish and Italian and is learning Kiswahili.


Tatiana Pachon, Project Manager, has three years of strategy consulting and business development gained with Deloitte & Touche Consulting and Azurian (a boutique e-strategy consulting firm) and over five years of experience in the energy industry with a major oil company. During her time as a consultant, Tatiana conducted financial valuations, developed business plans, and was responsible for business development. Five years ago she moved from Colombia to England where she joined Shell. Tatiana continued her involvement with the region and was responsible for developing stakeholder and sustainable development plans for the Group’s committee of managing directors. She then took a position in the global strategy and portfolio team within one of the downstream business units, where she lead a team spread over five continents for the implementation of operating models that she coordinated the development of. Tatiana speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese; she also has a working knowledge of French.


Moira Adams, Project Manager, is a forestry engineer with extensive experience of interdisciplinary forestry research in Amazonia. Her work includes analysis of indicators for forest management in Amazonia and mangrove regeneration in Northern Brazil, and her studies include the ecology of carbon and the impacts of anthropogenic activities on the environment. She is a qualified engenheira florestal and speaks Portuguese and English.

Ian Hamilton, Communications Editor, is a journalist with experience reporting on financial markets and has worked with BBC News Online, the Financial Times, The Australian and the Sydney Morning Herald. Ian manages the Carbon Positive website, which is a news portal for climate change and is the company’s main communications channel with customers and the industry.
